Rumor vs. Fact

There’s a rumor making the rounds that Hank & Cupcakes’ first single off their hotly-anticipated forthcoming album is about Mother Feather’s own Lizzie Carena. After watching the video for “Liquid Mercury” countless times I TOTALLY SEE IT. Though I can’t officially affirm or deny this, what I do know is that Mother Feather had a magical time sharing a show with them last summer, and they want to play again. (They want to play again!)

I also know this: Hank & Cupcakes put on one of the sexiest and most electrifying live shows in New York City.
Also, fact: Mother Feather, along with jangle-rockers My Pet Dragon and mind-fuck-ritual-industrial-dance-punk act Dolchnakov Brigade, will be supporting Hank & Cupcakes as part of an extraordinary bill at the hallowed downtown dance-hall Santos Party House on Wed. March 28.

As for the rumors, decide for yourself.

The most pop cock-rock submission, as determined by a panel of  pop cock-rock specialists (ie: us), wins 2 tickets to the show at Mercury Lounge Feb 10! Additionally, we’ll make the winning photo our profile pic throughout the month of February.

You may submit as many photos as you like. Deadline is midnight Jan 31 and the winner will be announced Feb 1.

Mother Feather will be headlining  Mercury Lounge Friday, February 10th.

Proceeds from this show will be funneled directly into creating more studio recordings. Rise to meet your Mother Feather knowing your ticket not only buys you admission, but also makes an investment in the next Mother Feather EP.  Tickets go onsale this Friday here.

Since this special show falls smack-dab in the middle of NY Fashion Week, we’ll be rocking custom Suzanne Rae for Mother Feather, created especially for the night’s performance.

Speaking of looking good, we’re expecting a fresh shipment of Mother Feather t-shirts (more ladies sizes and extra smalls!) to hawk at the show, proceeds from which will also go directly to recording. It’s win/win: sport a MF tee, support a new MF EP.

And to ensure a total f#cking barn-burner of a night, we’ve enlisted two powerhouse supporting acts. The ferochanteuse Julia Haltigan  and soul-dynamo Kendra Morris light the match. (Kendra’s amazing new single “Concrete Waves” has over 18,000 hits on Youtube. The last I checked capacity for Mercury Lounge is about 250…so get your tickets when they go onsale this Friday at noon, motherfeather!)

Mother Feather, Superlative

I’ll say it. Most of these year-end “best of” lists decided by “tastemakers” are whack.

Power to the people! The Deli Magazine is putting you in charge of voting for your favorite emerging NYC artist of 2011. Mother Feather is in good company on this list of nominees. If we win the most votes they’ll stick our pretty mugs on the cover of the spring issue and you’ll be able to read about us in any rehearsal space bathroom in the five boroughs! I. WANT. THIS. And I don’t deal well with disappointment.

We have a ton of exciting sh!t in the pipeline. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime…vote, motherfeather!
